VMCV is pleased to be a partner of the Freddie Days festival, whose 2026 edition will take place in Montreux from September 2 to 6.
Freddie Mercury and Montreux
For several decades, the association Montreux Celebration has been working to preserve the spirit and legacy of Freddie Mercury in our region. The iconic lead singer of Queen had a special connection with Montreux, where he chose to spend part of the final years of his life. Several of the band's albums were also written and recorded in Montreux, helping to make Freddie Mercury’s story an enduring part of the region’s history. Since 1996, the iconic statue of Freddie Mercury at Place du Marché has attracted thousands of visitors from around the world each year to Montreux’s lakeside promenade.
Freddie Days
Every year, around September 5 (Freddie Mercury’s birthday) the Freddie Days festival offers the public a free programme of concerts, entertainment, performances, and exhibitions dedicated to the world of Freddie Mercury and Queen.
The year 2026 is particularly significant, as it marks both the 80th anniversary of Freddie Mercury’s birth and the 30th anniversary of his statue.
